Crafts under the willow August challenge

The card challenge this month was to make a card using the theme 'new' and you had to use a metal embellishment, paint or pens, flowers and a 'magpie find' - something that isn't normally used in scrapbooking.

Here's my take on the challenge -

I really struggled with this one, until I remembered that I'd bought some watercolour card that I hadn't used yet. I stamped onto the card in clear versamark, then embossed it with verdigris embossing powders. I then colourwashed over the whole thing with my duo paints, cut it out and then distressed the edges with my dremel filing tool. Cool! I've never tried this before and it worked brilliantly on the thick watercolour card. I can see me using this technique again.

The matt was cut with a rotary deckle edge blade, along with the right hand side of the card.

For the magpie find, I bought some cheap washers and embossed them with verdigris powder and just secured them into the middle of the flowers with a brad. I then hung a key charm from a ribbon, which also hold my greeting and just chalked the edges.

I loved the effect of the verdigris motif on the watercolour card, so I had a go at a few more styles to build up my card stash -

Combining the Anna Griffin stamp with some Anna Griffin paper, a little paper bow and a safmat greeting.

Printing my greeting directly onto some HOTP papers and layering

The same card topper again on a zig-zag folded card - I'm loving this shape! Mental note... Must experiment more with this style.

Please be sweet and share the love. Leave a comment, like my Facebook page for regular updates or follow me on Pinterest.
